Join us for a book discussion with UAlbany historian, Amy Murrell Taylor on November 1st at 7 pm for a book discussion about March by Geraldine Brooks.

Do you want to share your work with other digital photography enthusiasts? Would you be willing to help others learn more about getting the best results from their digital cameras? Do you have questions about your camera or your laptop’s photo editing software?
Open to all, this forum lets participants share work, bring questions and help others learn to use the features of all types of digital cameras.

Bring your camera and work to share – on CD, flash drive or on your laptop. Leading the group is Art Small, a retired hospital administrator who has used photography professionally and is an avid travel and nature photographer
Monday Evenings at 6:00. 6:45, 7:30 & 8:15 and Tuesday and Wednesday Mornings at 10:00 and 11:00
If you need basic or not-so-basic computer help, our volunteer coaches are here to help you. You decide the topic and the class is yours; three coaches hold individual one-hour sessions.
We have day and evening appointments, so make sure you let us know if you need just the basics, or beyond, and we’ll set you up with the right coach.

November is National Novel Writing Month. This program will introduce people to NaNoWriMo and explain how they can sign up and attempt to write a novel in 30 days. For further information contact the Adult Services Department and ask for Maura. 456-2400 ext 7

Lost Radio Rounders areTom Lindsay and Michael Eck. Lindsay and Eck have been playing Historic American Music together for over 25 years. The duo help us celebrate President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday with a performance of music culled from the Civil War-era songbook You’ll hear guitar and mandolin, along with flashes of dobro, ukulele, strumstick, autoharp and banjo. Eck and Lindsay take this stuff seriously, but they have lots of fun! Singing along is more than welcome!

The Old Hellebergh Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will be providing an overview of how to begin tracing your lineage to a family member that served or aided the cause of the American Revolution. Participants will be shown how to use on-line resources, such as the DAR Library, Patriot Index, Ancestry.com, Family Search, and National Archives. There will be a brief overview of what the NSDAR is and what they do, as well as a time to answer any questions and assist participants with their research. No experience is needed and all are welcome.
Registration is not necessary.

The GPL Digital Photo Forum hosts Stephen Fogle, who will help people learn the differences among different kinds of digital cameras: Point and Shoot, Hybrids, and Single Lens Reflex. Mr. Fogle is a professional photographer primarily involved in portraiture, event and nature photography. He has over 40 years experience in both film and digital photography. Having begun working with digital graphics in the late 1980s, he has followed the advancements of electronic imaging since its early days

Learn about how best to approach taking excellent photos in nature from Bill Danielson, biologist, free-lance photographer and writer of the Times Union column, “Speaking of Nature.” Area photographers gather monthly to discuss work they are doing and to share information about how to improve their work. This is an open forum. All are invited to bring their work to share and also their questions. Bring work on memory cards, USB drives and CDs. The group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month.
